KARACHI, Pakistan: Renowned Swedish heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer SCANIA has awarded exclusive distribution rights to Yousuf Dewan Companies to introduce its comprehensive range of premium trucks, truck-tractors, buses and coaches in Pakistan.

A reliable name in the industry, SCANIA manufactures transportation solutions which are well-known for their build quality, durability and are acclaimed for leadership in fuel efficiency, innovation and environmental-friendliness across the world.

Yousuf Dewan Companies or YDC is providing its customers best quality automobiles for close to two decades. YDC is associated with world renowned brands such as BMW and Mitsubishi. YDC has also assembled Hyundai and KIA CKD based products in the past. Now YDC intends to cater to the needs of the heavy commercial vehicle customers by joining hands with SCANIA.

Materializing the shared vision, on April 24, 2017 the Distributorship Agreement was signed between Mr. Christian Levin – Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, SCANIA and Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui – Chairman Yousuf Dewan Companies, in the presence of high officials from both the companies and renowned customers of heavy commercial vehicles. Under the agreement, Yousuf Dewan Truck and Bus Company (YDT&BC) shall serve as the sole distributor of SCANIA vehicles in Pakistan.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Mr. Christian Levin of SCANIA said: “We are delighted to introduce our quality trucks and buses in Pakistan in collaboration with YDT&BC. Pakistan is quickly emerging as a preferred investment destination in the world. The automotive industry in particular sees a lot of investment potential in wake of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The vision behind introducing our products is to explore the full potential of the Pakistani market by raising the bar higher for competition. Our entry into the market will not only strengthen our business but will go on to supplement Pakistan’s growth and progress on its socio-economic front by creating multifarious employment and business opportunities. We are committed to expand our investment in the country and will explore the prospects of manufacturing our products here in Pakistan.”

Commenting on the development, Dewan Muhammad Yousuf Farooqui of YDC said: “I believe it is opportune time for SCANIA to enter Pakistan market as our economy is growing by leaps and bounds especially the truck and bus sector is witnessing unprecedented exponential growth.”

He also commended the stable policies of the Government of Pakistan which are playing a major role in the revival of automotive industry in the country. As a result, the Pakistan truck and bus market is currently experiencing an unprecedented robust growth; a barometer for deep-rooted economic growth.

Furthermore, the China – Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) envisaging an investment of US $55 billion in energy and infrastructure projects is considered a game-changer and is creating a shift in demand for high-speed, high-power, fuel efficient, long-haulage solution”.
