ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that a survey was being carried out in collaboration with Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPPARCO) to find out potential places for constructing new schools and colleges in the federal capital.

Responding to a calling attention notice in the National Assembly in Islamabad on Tuesday, the minister informed the House that currently 423 educational institutions are working under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), out of which 20 are model colleges.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that out of these 20 model colleges, admission load on three colleges is extremely high.

“About 90 per cent admission applications are received by the three colleges, and it was impossible to accommodate all applications in these colleges”, the minister added.

Furthermore, he said that the FDE has also formed an admission complaint committee to resolve complaints.

The CADD minister said that enrollment ratio in the public sector schools has increased following the execution of Prime Minister’s Education Reforms Programme in Islamabad.

The minister said that evening classes has also been started in order to accommodate maximum number of children in the schools.
