BEIJING, China: The Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday said that Pakistan and China had more potential to strengthen bilateral cooperation regarding implementation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other regional connectivity projects.

In delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his aides at Great Hall of China in Beijing on the sidelines of ‘Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation’, President Xi Jinping expressed the resolve to further cement ties with Pakistan by enhancing cooperation in multiple spheres.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan stood with China for promotion of Chinese initiative of One Belt and One Road. He said that CPEC was a core component of the visionary initiative of the One belt-One Road.

While appreciating the commitment and leadership of President Xi Jinping for the realization of CPEC projects, the prime minister said that his government was making strenuous efforts for speedy implementation of the CPEC.

The prime minister pointed out that Pakistan had already made good progress in execution of energy and infrastructure projects.

Nawaz Sharif also congratulated President Xi on the holding of the Belt and Road Forum saying the participation of a large number of world leaders in Chinese Capital was a testimony of China’s growing stature in the international community.
