ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Friday announced to hold a public gathering in Islamabad on April 28 in a bid to pressurize Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign in the wake of Panama Papers Case verdict.
While talking to the media outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that five judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan had rejected all the documents including Qatar letters submitted by Sharif family as their defence in Panama Case while two senior judges ordered Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification; how could he stay as the prime minister.
“Two judges have said that PM is no more Sadiq and Ameen. How will PML-N face the public now?,” Imran said.
Imran Khan said that such decision had never been given in the history of Pakistan. He said that a sitting prime minister had never been investigated before.
The Chairman PTI Imran Khan said that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) proposed by the Supreme Court to further probe into Panama revelations wouldn’t remain free and transparent since Nawaz Sharif was still the prime minister. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have stepped down so that he couldn’t influence the JIT.
The Chief PTI said that they demanded of Nawaz Sharif to resign and in this regard, the PTI would hold a Jalsa in Islamabad on next Friday, asking Nawaz Sharif to resign till JIT completed its investigation.
“We invite all parties to join us in protest against the government,” he said.
