PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak along with a delegation left for China on Saturday to participate in Beijing Road Show to bring investment in the province.

Pervez Khattak was accompanied by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ministers Muhammad Atif Khan and Shahram Tarakai, Chairman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Investment Board Faisal Saleem Rehman, Senator Shibli Faraz and other Officials.

Earlier while address a press conference in Peshawar on Friday, the Chief Minister said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would hold a two-day road show in Beijing from April 16, and bring hundreds new schemes for different sectors.

The Chief Minister said that big investment including industrial estates, energy, railway track, roads, industrial park, cement factories, tourism, agriculture and other sectors would be the part and parcel of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

List of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Possible Projects for Investment & Development:

  1. Investment in Industry and Manufacturing

Setting up of Industries, Commercial, Services Enterprises in Economic Zones / SEZs. Industry sectors feasible in KPK are identified.

In addition, opportunities exist for setting up of service, hospitality and medical facilities along the CPEC transport routes in KPK.

  1. KPK Oil & Gas Exploration Blocks

Investment for exploration, development, and production in the KPOGCL targeted blocks; Lakki Block, DIK East Block, DIK West Block, Nowshera Block, Miran Block etc.

  1. Minerals Exploration Blocks

Investment for exploration, development and mining for a wide range of minerals in KPK (including gems, semi-precious stones).

  1. Special Economic Zones & Industrial Park – Hattar

Development, operation and management of 1000+ Acre Special Economic Zone at Hattar on the junction of E 35 Expressway (CPEC Main Route), M 1 Motorway and M 2 Motorway.

  1. Special Economic Zones – Industrial Clusters

Development, operations and management of Industrial Clusters Special Economic Zones at any of the following locations; Chitral, Swat, Jalozai, Ghazi, Risalpur, Nowshera, Mansehra, Kohat. Particular Target: (1) Mineral-based manufacturing / processing, (2) Gemstone based products / processing, and (3) Chemical Industries

  1. Rail & Cargo Terminals at Special Economic Zones

Development of railway line connections between Pakistan Railway ML 1 (and other sections, as appropriate) and the Economic Zones. The development will include railway sidings, railway cargo terminal and container terminal at the Special Economic Zones.

  1. KPK Petrochemical Complex

Investment in manufacture of basic petrochemicals and chemicals and inetrmediates utilizing KPK resources in petroleum and natural gas. Location – Karak / Southern KPK. KPEZDMC will provide services for EZ / SEZ at the location selected by the investors.

  1. CPEC City / Karnal Sher Khan Interchange

Development of a multi-use real estate for residential, commercial, hospitality and leisure activities on the approx. 10,000 Acre land designated for the purpose. The development will also serve the nearby Rashakai M-1 Special Economic Zone.

  1. New KPK International Airport / Karnal Sher Khan Interchange

Development, operation and management of a new international airport, located in the vicinity of the CPEC City and the Rashakai M-1 SEZ, to serve the main economic activity centres of KPK.

  1. Peshawar Model Town

Development of a multi-use real estate for government establishments, residential, commercial, hospitality and leisure activities on the approx. 13,250 Acre land designated for the purpose. The development is located off the N 5 G T Road, and will be connected through a 7.5 km model broadway.

  1. Technology City

Establishment of Technology, electronics manufacturing, IT and software facilities inside the Rashakai M-1 Economic Zone (being developed by others).

  1. Hydro Power Projects

Development, operation and management of Hydropower (20 MW – 600 MW range) – over 10 in numbers – in identified locations in Chitral, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, and other districts of KPK. The projects will include Transmission Lines.

  1. Chashma Uplift Irrigation Canal

Development of the main water supply scheme for the Arid areas of southern KPK / Dera Ismail Khan.

  1. KPK Transmission Line network

Development, operation and management of approx. 2000 kW of Transmission Line Network; 220 kV and 330 kV, providing connectivity for various power generation units with National Grid, and for strengthening of Grid in KPK – especially Southern KPK. This will also connect with KPK Distribution Network, where required / feasible.

  1. Second Northern Route for CPEC

All weather highway from Gilgit – Shandur – Chitral. In particular, the section from Shandur – Chitral connecting with existing Chakdara – Lowari – Chitral section. The high way will be designed to distribute current traffic load on the Karakoram Highway and act as the alternate emergency access route as well.

  1. Second Western Route for CPEC

The Indus Highway N 55, widened and upgraded to ‘restricted access’ will act as a second, shorter, western route for CPEC traffic and is particularly suited to drivers / transporers who have to touch the economic areas / population centres of KPK. It will require a second tunnel at Kohat. The work is currently envisaged under PSDP. The project will include interconnection with Western Route at Kohat / Khushalgarh crossing the Indus river.

  1. Second Fibre Optic Connection between Pakistan and China

Development, operation and management of Second Fibre Optic connection between China and Pakistan. The proposed HS Data Connection between Pakistan and China passes through challenging and inhospitable terrain and inhospitable. A second cable will provide alternate option and also improve connectivity for KPK.

  1. Multi Use Commercial Development at Hayatabad, Peshawar

Development, operation and management of multi-use real estate – though particularly aimed at the IT sector. Government of KPK will provide land.

The Government also intends to offer its unutilized land in prime locations for commercial development of real estate. List is available.

  1. Bus Station & Multi Modal Transport Centre for Peshawar

Development of modern bus station with requisite facilities for a multi-modal transport station on the outskirts of Peshawar. Government of KPK will provide the land. The station will also serve Peshawar Metro and the envisaged Greater Peshawar Area Mass Transit Scheme (GPAMTS).

  1. Swat – Shangla Railway

Development, operation and management of the new railway line will connect the railway systems in Peshawar Valley with the future envisaged Havelian – Kashghar railway (CPEC programme). The railway line will connect the people of Swat and Kohistan with the major economic centres of KPK. The railway line will require a tunnel at Malakand.

  1. Tourism Concessions & Leisure Projects

Development, operation of tourism – hospitality concessions and projects in various locations of KPK; as per project list provided by Government of KPK.

Particular Area of Attention: Buddhist Tourism, Leisure / Adventure Tourism

  1. Communication Corridors between FATA & KPK

Development of communication corridors between FATA and KPK (N 55 Indus Highway), for economic integration with CPEC. Each corridor (envisaged at Bannu, Kohat Karak and Dera Ismail Khan) will have highway (where required), railway connection and fibre-optic connectivity.

  1. Various Roads and Infrastructure Projects

Development of road and infrastructure projects of various sizes 9small to medium). To be specified separately.
