KARACHI, Pakistan: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday upheld its verdict about the restoration of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh A.D. Khawaja, and said he would continue to work till the final verdict.

While hearing the Case, a division bench of SHC headed by Justice Munib Akhter rejected the plea by the inspector general, asking the Court to withdraw its stay order regarding the IGP Sindh A.D. Khawaja. The Court instructed the A.D. Khawaja to continue to work as the Provincial IGP till the final verdict in this Case is announced.

The SHC bench also summoned a copy of the agenda of the Sindh Cabinet meeting held in Karachi a day ago.

Later, the Court adjourned the hearing till April 11.

On Wednesday, the Sindh Cabinet in its meeting Chaired by the Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the removal of A.D. Khawaja as the IGP Sindh, and also gave its consent to the appointment of Additional IG Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti as the Provincial Police Chief.

The issue surfaced when on April 1, the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Sindh government had surrendered services of A.D. Khawaja back to the federal government. However, two days after the SHC ordered immediate restoration of IGP Sindh A.D. Khawaja.
