ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has provided skills development training to more than 250,000 youths since its establishment.
An official of the NAVTTC told the state-run news agency in Islamabad on Tuesday that presently, the NAVTTC has initiated six month free of cost technical and professional training programme, through which 50,000 youths would be given skills development training in demand driven courses.
The official said that annually, a total of 100,000 youths were being trained under the governments’ youth skills development programme. He said that technical training was being provided to youth in more than 50 market oriented trades so that the youth can be deployed in different sectors.
The NAVTTC official said that to meet the demand of professionals in China-Pakistan Economical Corridor (CPEC), the NAVTTC had initiated many technical courses including operating of heavy machinery, construction and electrical etc.
The official said that NAVTTC has closed the training programmes in more than 70 trades which were not demand driven.
Currently, he said the NAVTTC was yielding technical and professional programmes in collaboration with United States of America), United Kingdom, Japan, Turkey, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Malaysia, China and others countries.
