SHEIKHUPURA, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique and the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have separately summoned report of the Train collision with an Oil Tanker in Sheikhupura.

Early on Tuesday morning, a Karachi bound Shalimar Express Train collided with an oil tanker in Punjab’s Sheikhupura district, resulting in deaths of two train drivers and injuries of six passengers.

Sources said that the accident occurred at Hiran Minar Railway Crossing near Sheikhupura where an oil tanker was stopped due to fault in excel but in the meantime, Shalimar Express Train struck it. They said that at least six bogies and engine of the train caught fire; however, the passengers were evacuated.

The injured passengers were taken to the district headquarters hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile in their separate statements, the Federal Railways Minister and the Punjab Chief Minister expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic train accident.

In his statement, Saad Rafique sought report of the train accident, saying that the incident would be investigated and stern action would be taken against the responsible persons.

Shahbaz Sharif also strongly condemned Sheikhupura Train accident, and summoned report of the incident.
