BANGKOK, Thailand: The Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan has said that soon Tourist Police Force will be established in Pakistan on pattern of Thailand to provide maximum security to the incoming tourists.

In a meeting with the Deputy Commander of Tourist Police Division Pol Col Nithithorn Chintakanon in Thailand’s Capital Bangkok, the managing director PTDC invited him to visit Pakistan to assist in formulation of the Tourist Police Force and their visit will be hosted by PTDC.

The Deputy Commander assured that Thai Tourist Police will extend maximum support in establishment of Tourist Police Force in Pakistan. He accepted the invitation of MD PTDC for visit to Pakistan.MD PTDC Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor along with Deputy Commander of Tourist Police Division Pol Col Nithithorn Chintakanon in Bangkok

During the meeting, the MD PTDC introduced Pakistani culture to the Deputy Commander, and briefed the geographical importance of Pakistan for the world.

The managing director said that unfortunately, the tourism industry in Pakistan was a neglected sector. However, he added that the present government is committed to promote and develop this foreign exchange earning industry and to showcase Pakistan as a tourist friendly destination.

The managing director PTDC further said that tourism is a tool for economic and social development for any Country and there is a need to concentrate on religious, sports and cultural values of our society and portray a positive image of Pakistan to the world.

Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor appreciated the initiatives and policies of the Thai government for promotion and provision of facilities to the tourist which resulted in a remarkable tourist flow in Thailand.

The managing director said that the government of Pakistan is considering to simplify the visa procedure so that more tourists may visit Pakistan every year. He said that there are numerous holy places of Buddhism in Pakistan where Thai people can perform their religious rituals and also enjoy Pakistani culture.

Earlier, the managing director PTDC also visited the World Medical Centre Hospital at Bangkok where the hospital director Professor Adisorn Patradul briefed him about traditional and modern techniques being offered by the hospital.

The MD PTDC told him that medical tourism is also flourishing in Pakistan where facilities of kidney, liver, hair transplant and cosmetic surgery. He said that proper publicity may bring fruitful results of increase in tourist flow.
