ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan has strongly denounced the latest cross border terrorist attack in Mohmand Agency in which five Pakistani Soldiers were martyred.
Last night, terrorists from across the border attacked three Pakistani border posts in Mohmand agency; however, effective presence, vigilance and response repulsed terrorists attempt as 10 terrorists were killed by Pakistani border forces.
But in the exchange of fire with attackers, five Pakistani Soldiers also embraced Shahadat.
“Our valiant soldiers laid their lives to safeguard country and people from terrorist attacks on Mohmand Agency from across border last night,” the the Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said in a twitter message on Monday.
“We salute our brave soldiers. We condemn the terrorist attacks,” he said.
The Balochistan Chief Minister also condemned the terrorist attack in Mohmand agency. He expressed sympathy with the families of army personnel.
Earlier in a press release, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that martyred Pakistani Soldiers included Naik Sanaullah, Naik Safdar, Sepoy Altaf, Sepoy Nek Muhammad and Sepoy Anwar.
The ISPR said that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa COAS appreciated the response by Pakistani troops to cross border terrorists’ attack in Mohmand agency.
The COAS emphasized need for required physical presence on Afghan side of the border for matching and effective border security. He said that terrorists are common threat and must be denied freedom of movement/action along the border.
The Army Chief also expressed grief on loss of precious lives, and hailed the sacrifice made by brave sons of soil.
Later, Namaz-e- Janaza of Shaheed Soldiers was offered at Peshawar garrison.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Peshawar Corps Commander Lt General Nazir Ahmed Butt, other senior serving Civil and military officers, and soldiers attended the Namaz-e- Janaza.
Jasd-e-Khakis of Shaheeds will be taken to their native areas where they will be buried with full military honour.
