ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Lok Virsa organized a colourful Basant one day celebrations without kite flying, proving most people wrong who think that Basant Festival only means of kite flying.

The one day Basant celebrations was organized at premises of Lok Virsa wherein the visitors were very much entertained.

Taking to the APP in Islamabad, the Executive Director of Lok Virsa Dr. Fouzia Saeed said that Basant festival basically means celebrations on the arrival of spring season, adding that only kite flying is not Basant.

Dr. Fouzia Saeed said that some people only consider kite flying a Basant festival which is wrong.

The executive director of Lok Virsa said that during a long day celebrations at Lok Virsa, a large number of people attended the Basant songs competition and other fun activities and traditional food stalls.

The executive director said that people love culture and traditions, adding that more such events would be arranged in near future. She said that Lok Virsa has started its preparations for holding ten days popular Lok Mela in the first week of April.

Fazal Jutt, a popular folk singer who is son of legend folk singer Ashiq Jutt, when contacted, he said that Basant is the name of celebrations not kite flying. He said that Lok Virsa arranged a special Basant event which was really enjoyed by a large number of people from twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
