MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government was pursuing policy of reconciliation in the greater interest of the country.

In his address at budget session of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Council in Muzaffarabad, he said that policy was also visible in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The prime minister thanked people of Azad Kashmir for reposing confidence in PML-N in the last elections, and said the party was committed to serve the masses without any discrimination.

Nawaz Sharif said that Azad Kashmir had great potential to develop and every effort would be made to exploit this potential.

The prime minister further said that there was great scope for initiating hydel power projects in Azad Kashmir. He said that investors from Azad Kashmir would also be welcomed and facilitated if they invested in such projects.

Earlier in the day, the prime minister accompanied by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Barjees Tahir, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir and Senator Pervaiz Rasheed reached Muzaffarabad to review various development schemes and projects of Azad Kashmir. 

The prime minister also administered oath to two newly-elected members including Abdul Khaliq Wasi and Chaudhry Muhammad Siddiq of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

Prior to departing for Muzaffarabad, the prime minister held a meeting with the Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Muhammad Zafar Ul Haq at the PM House in Islamabad and discussed current political situation in the country.
