MULTAN: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday set aside three-year jail term awarded to ex-MNA Jamshed Dasti in a fake degree case.

On April 5, Dasti had filed an appeal in the Lahore High Court against three-year jail sentence awarded to him by a district court in the fake degree case.

Dasti’s nomination papers from NA-177 and 178 were rejected. He had announced to contest election against former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar. But he was convicted over fake degree.

The court’s orders were celebrated by a large number of Dasti’s supporters.
