Government of PakistanNisar ridicules PPP’s corruption drive

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday said that Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) claim to launch a drive against corruption would tantamount to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announcing a campaign to safeguard rights of Muslims in India.

While talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Tuesday, the interior minister said that how the PPP, which itself had been involved in massive corruption, could launch a movement against corruption.

“Everyone knows about PPP corruption,” Nisar said.

His statement regarding PPP’s alleged corruption came as the PPP was constantly turning the guns to Chaudhry Nisar and demanding his resignation.

Earlier on Friday, the PPP submitted adjournment motions in the Senate and the National Assembly, demanding the immediate resignation of the interior minister following the release of the inquiry commission report on the Quetta Civil Hospital carnage.

Meanwhile in a tweet, the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto once again said that “the interior minister must keep his fantasies to himself and focus on our 4 demands.”

In response to a question, the interior minister told media that our sovereignty was challenged during the PPP’s tenure when the US helicopters entered Pakistan and targeted a person (Osama Bin Laden) in Abbottabad.

Nisar said that he would recommend to the Federal Cabinet to make Abbottabad Commission report public. He said that Abbottabad incident was a grave violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Chaudhry Nisar also said that those talking about Panama Papers were forgetting about naming of their close relatives in the Leaks and corruption stories about their families and leadership.

Moreover, the minister told that over Rs 70 billion had been spent on capacity building of Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC) during the last one and a half year. He said that the two para-military forces had been prepared to take up internal security responsibilities from Pakistan Army.

The interior minister said that despite launching of operation Zarb-e-Azb, the former Army Chief spared about 34,000 troops for internal security duties. He said that most of them had now been sent back and presently about 10,500 were deployed for internal security in different parts of the country.

The minister said that the first batch of Rapid Response Force had completed its training and another batch of 447 would be imparted training soon.

To a question, he said that action against traffic violations would be taken including those against foreign diplomats.
