ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Turkey on Thursday held delegation-level talks in Islamabad in which the two sides reaffirmed commitment to transform their special relationship into a strong strategic partnership.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif led Pakistani delegation while the Turkish delegation was led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During talks, the two sides discussed regional and international issues and matters of mutual interests. They expressed satisfaction over the existing level of cooperation in different areas and decided to further strengthen them in the days to come.
The two sides agreed to further augment their bilateral relations in diverse fields.
Both the sides are also expected sign a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements.
Earlier, the prime minister and the Turkish president also held one-on-one meeting at the PM House and discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and ways and means to further augment them in diverse sectors.
Upon his arrival at the PM House, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warmly received the visiting Turkish president and his delegation.
A formal welcome ceremony in honor of the Turkish president was held. Anthems of Pakistan and Turkey were played and a smartly turned out contingent of the armed forces also presented guard of honor to the visiting dignitary.
Later in the day, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will also address a joint session of the Parliament.
Tayyip Erdogan reached Pakistan on Wednesday evening for a two-day visit. He will also visit Lahore where Prime Minister will host a banquet in his honour at the Lahore Royal Fort.
