SHARJAH, UAE: Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has expressed disappointment at the loss of third Test against West Indies in Sharjah stating, “It’s always disappointing to lose a Test.”
West Indies on Thursday beat Pakistan by five wickets in the final Test of the three-match series in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Batsmen Kraigg Brathwaite and Shane Dowrich each scored unbeaten 60 to power their side to the first victory of the tour.
They were whitewashed 3-0 by Pakistan in the previous T20I and ODI series.
While collecting the winners trophy here in the post-match presentation, Misbah admitted that Pakistan team made a lot of mistakes and could not maintain the winning momentum. “Yes, the series is important but it’s not good to lose.
“Credit to West Indies. They kept improving, while we kept losing momentum. We were well below our standards, especially in the batting department.”
He said West Indies’ batting discipline was good, while Pakistan team lacked that. He said Pakistan batsmen’s selection of shots was also not good. “Clearly, if our main weapon is not getting any sort of turn on the last day, that was also disappointing for us.”
However, he was of the view that Pakistan team could bounce back and would perform better in their upcoming assignments.
“Everyone is hurt from this defeat. But I’m sure we’ve the ability to come back strong.”
The Pakistan captain said that conditions in New Zealand and Down Under would not be easy but added that Pakistan loved challenges adding would do well.
“In Tests, you at least need to score 350 when the pitch is really good. This was a batting paradise and we just collapsed in both innings.”
“We made a lot of mistakes and I apologise to the fans who supported us throughout the tournament,” Misbah added.
