ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The process of repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan will be suspended from November 30 to February next year.
According to United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the Afghan refugees possessing the proof of registration (POR) cards would be allowed to stay in Pakistan during this period and all facilities would be provided by them.
According to details, those refugees who have registered them for return in November will not be affected from this schedule and they may proceed according to their plans.
However, the new registrations will be suspended from November 7.
People returning to Afghanistan according to their own arrangements during this period will not get financial aid of $400 from the UNHCR and 50 dollars from the Afghan government.
Meanwhile, the Federal Cabinet its meeting held in Islamabad on Wednesday with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Chair deferred decisions on return of the Afghan refugees from Pakistan.
In its 25-point agency, the Federal Cabinet discussed Repatriation and Management Policy for Afghan Refugees, National Maritime Policy and confirmation of decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee at its meeting held on October 31 among others.
