ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday directed Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration to stop arresting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) workers and also produced the list of all held persons on October 31.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard the case filed by the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) through their counsel Niazullah Niazi against the alleged arrests of PTI activists.

During proceeding, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui asked the PTI representatives that whether their party would hold a peaceful protest or planning to lock-down the federal capital?

He further asked “will the PTI comply the court directives?

The court observed that it knew well how to ensure the implementation of court’s orders.

Justice Siddiqui observed that neither the PTI would lock-down the city on November 2, nor the District Administration would place containers to close roads.

The counsel for the petitioner assured the court that PTI’s Chief Imran Khan would respect the court orders in letter and spirit.

He said the PTI would hold protest peacefully on November 2.

On the directives of the court Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Fazl ur Rehman, DAG Arshad Mehmood Kiani and DAG Arshad Khan Jadoon appeared before the court.

The court directed them to communicate order to district administration for not installing containers within the limits of ICT to block various roads as PTI had ensured the court to hold protest in peaceful manners.

In written orders, the court directed District Administration to remain within the four corners of law if any violation is reported, then the action in accordance with law may be initiated.

It was further directed that no harassment might be caused to any person except by adopting legal course and procedure.

The court adjourned hearing of the case till October 31.

It may be mentioned here that the petitioners had stated in their petition that the PTI youth convention was being held in sector E-11 peacefully and had legal protection.

Dozens of PTI workers were arrested by law enforcement agencies and shifted to unidentified locations, they claimed.

The petition further added that PTI had schedule to conduct peaceful protest on November 2, saying that no person should be arrested without committing any offence.
