ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) and Microsoft would jointly impart IT training to TEVTA’S 30,000 trainees annually, Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said Friday.
Addressing MoU signing ceremony with Microsoft, he said the purpose of training is to increase employability of Punjab youth by equipping them with various industry and business skills related IT courses, according to a press release.
The MoU was signed by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and Country Enterprise Director Microsoft Abid Zaidi.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that Microsoft and TEVTA will work together to carry out the assessment of student market in Punjab to understand the need and scope of skills in particular pertaining to business administration and management to initiate the potential for the development and delivery of appropriate training and education.
In addition to their regular training programme, trainees will also appear in Microsoft examination. After passing the examination, they will also be called Microsoft Specialist.
Chairperson TEVTA said that with the assistance of Microsoft, curricula will be designed meeting the local market needs so that youth may be trained as per requirement of industry.
The integrity of all programmes will be assessed and validated through Microsoft Office Specialist Examination to ensure a common standard in experience and outcome.
Partnership of TEVTA with Microsoft will successfully take place in line with the policy guidelines of Chief Minister Punjab to give IT training to the youth of the province of the Punjab.
At present, IT courses are the part of Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE’s) courses but now TEVTA will also include in its short courses, one and two year diploma courses as well.
To run these courses successfully in all TEVTA institute, teachers will also be given training and new induction will be made where required, he concluded.
