PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday unanimous passed four bills including, “The KPK Tuberculosis Notification Bill, 2016”.
Senior Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai moved the KPK Tuberculosis notification bill 2016, maintained that in order to effectively implement Tuberculosis program and to provide free diagnostic and treatment services to Tuberculosis patients, it was imperative to declare tuberculosis as a notifiable disease.
He said Tuberculosis is spreading at a phenomenal rate which causes human suffering, endangers public health and adversely impacts.
Under the bill the district health officer (DHO) will maintain a database of such notification to be notified through registered medical practitioners, private clinics, private hospitals, community leaders and incharge of covered premises.
The DHO would arrange seminars and workshops in collaboration with National Program or Provincial Program for all public and private health practitioners, private clinics, private hospitals, community leaders and incharge of covered premises.
The DHO would arrange for the diagnosis, treatment and managements without any delay upon receiving the notification form.
Meanwhile, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tibb and Homeopathic Employees (appointment) bill 2016, was passed by the House bringing appointment and regularization of certain employees of Tibb and Homeopathic at par with those employees who were regularized through KP Tibb and Homeopathic Employees (Regulation of Services) Act, 2014 to remove discrimination among the employees.
The House also passed The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Academy of Research and Training Bill, 2016 for capacity development, enhancement of professional competence, promotion of research and ethical standards for efficient dispensation of knowledge and skills of academic and managerial staff of Higher Education, Archives, and Libraries Department.
Another bill moved by Senior Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai titled “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faculty of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences Bill 2016” was also passed by the house unanimously.
The statement and objects and reason of the bill stated that in order to reconstitute and reorganize the KP Medial Faculty for the purpose of giving it necessary autonomy, raising its standard of training, examination, research and improving its administration and registration of paramedics, health professionals pertaining to preventive, promotive and others in health sector it is imperative to establish Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faculty of Paramedical and Allied Health Sciences.
Meanwhile, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prohibition of Tobacco and Protection of Non-Smokers Health Bill 2016, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Blood Transfusion Safety Authority Bill 2016 and The Brains Institute Bill 2016 were introduced in the house which were moved by Senior Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai and Minister for Law Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi on behalf of Chief Minister.
