ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets hovered over Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday as tension between Pakistan and India increased following the Uri attack in Occupied Kashmir.
However, the reason behind hovering by PAF jets was not ascertained as yet.
Sources said that as the PAF jets kept on hovering over twin cities, people came out of their houses or stood on roofs of their houses to witness jets.
But it was carried out as the tension at Pakistan-India border has been intensified following the Uri attack which New Delhi alleged that Islamabad-backed militants carried out at military base in Uri town of Occupied Kashmir on September 8, causing deaths of 18 Indian military personnel.
Earlier on Thursday, the PAF fighter jets conducted drills at the Lahore-Islamabad motorway; however, the air force sources said that it was routine training by the jets which was not related to heightened tension with India.
Meanwhile, a contingent of Russian ground forces arrived at Noor Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi earlier in the morning to participate in the first ever Pak-Russian joint military exercise from September 24 to October 10, 2016.
