PakistanPakistan army closely watching latest happenings in region: General Raheel

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that we are fully cognizant and closely watching the latest happenings in the region and their impact on the security of Pakistan.

“Armed Forces of Pakistan are fully prepared to respond to entire spectrum of direct and indirect threat,” the COAS said while expressing his satisfaction over operational preparedness of the army at the Corps Commander’s Conference held at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday.

The forum had an in depth review of external and internal security situation and operational preparedness of the army.

The Corps Commander’s Conference was held a day after an attack on an Indian army base in Uri town of India Occupied Kashmir which killed 17 Indian soldiers. However like the past, the Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh once again alleged that Pakistan was behind the attack and called it is ‘a terrorist state’.

While addressing the Corps Commander’s Conference, the COAS took note of a hostile narrative being propagated by India and also said that Pakistan’s Armed Forces together with our resilient nation have surmounted every challenge and will thwart any sinister design against integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan in future as well.

Commending the steady progress of Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the COAS paid glowing tributes to officers and men of Army, Frontier Corps (FC), Rangers and police who are rendering supreme sacrifices while successfully fighting against terrorists across the length and breadth of the country.
