LAHORE, Pakistan: Chairman Pakistan-China Institute and Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed Monday said that CPEC would stabilize national economy as the project envisages power generation, infrastructure development, modernization of industry and integration of regional economy.

Talking to the state-run news agency, Mushahid said that besides economic and development opportunities along the CPEC routes, special economic zones, industrial parks and oil pipelines would all create tremendous openings as well as employment opportunities for people across the country.

He said that CPEC was important initiative for uniting the federation of Pakistan by connecting the less developed and developed areas for the shared prosperity.

To a question he said that China had always played a very positive role in maintaining peace, security and stability in the region and beyond.

“The people of Pakistan were the major stakeholder in this gigantic project and as long as there was unity among their ranks and files, no enemy could dare to stop this project of national importance,” he added.

He said that the CPEC was not only a pilot project and a game-changer but also a pillar of economic growth for Pakistan as well as for the welfare of its people, in addition to its future.

Mushahid said that CPEC would strengthen the regional connectivity through road, rail and pipeline networks, further adding that Pakistan was a link between China and rest of the region.

He said that we should learn lessons from the experience of Chinese model to make Pakistan an economically and technologically developed country.

“We are grateful for the Chinese leadership for promoting One Belt, One Road Vision, of which CPEC is an important segment for the shared benefit and prosperity in the region,” he remarked.” he further said.
