ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The import of mobile phone rose to $753.223 million during the fiscal year 2015-16 against $722.622 million the previous year showing a growth of 4.23 per cent.

On year-on-year basis, the mobile phone import, however, decreased by 4.12 per cent in June 2016 as compared to the imports in June 2015, according to the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The imports in June 2016 were recorded at $65.974 million which were $68.809 million during the same month of the previous year.

Similarly, on month-on-month basis, the mobile phone imports surged by 27.09 per cent in June 2016 as against the imports in May 2016 in which the imports were recorded at $51.911 million.

The overall telecom import decreased by 0.86 per cent from $1.377 billion in July-June (2014-15), to $1.365 billion in July-June (2015-16).

On year-on-year basis, the telecom imports decreased from $112.04 million in June 2015 to $108.628 million in June 2016 thus showing a negative growth of 3.05 per cent.

Likewise, the telecom imports on month-on-month basis, increased by 9.47 per cent in June 2016 as against the imports of May 2016.
