South AsiaDon't blame Pakistan for Kashmir uprising, Mirwaiz tells India

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that India’s bid to blame Pakistan for the current uprising in the Kashmir Valley warranted no response.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a media interview in Srinagar said that the two-day visit by the Home Minister and his comments were insignificant.

The Mirwaiz said New Delhi’s propaganda on the Kashmir issue that the current uprising was sponsored by Pakistan “is so worn out and half-witted that it does not even warrant a response”.

He said the Hurriyat leadership including Syed Ali Gilani and Muhammad Yasin Malik believed that the Kashmiri struggle for freedom like all freedom struggles in the world was both indigenous and sacred.

His remarks came after Rajnath Singh on Sunday blamed Pakistan for uprising in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Ittehadul Muslimeen Chief Masroor Abbas Ansari in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned killings and restrictions in occupied Kashmir.

He said that the sentiments for freedom cannot be suppressed through brutal tactics.
