ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In continuation to successful literary Traditions of previous years, the National Book Foundation (NBF) has planned to start Children Summer Book Club 2016 from July 20 (from10:30 a.m to 1:00 p.m) in the main auditorium situated at here at 6-Mauve Area, Taleemi Chowk.
According to details of the Summer Club, Children Summer Reading programme is a scheme aimed at improving reading habits among children aged between 4 and 12 years.
The main purpose of NBF Children Summer Book Club is to bring the youngest students closer to book reading culture and to enhance the reading habits.
The NBF has also managed to provide a very comfortable literary and academic atmosphere to all the participants along with refreshments. The most intelligent students and quiz winners would be given prizes daily in the shape of famous books of their interest.
Academicisions recommend children to inculcate reading habits since childhood to broad their vision and develop proper thinking methods and creation of new ideas.
It is a recognized fact that reading has a crucial role to play in creating independent learners, literacy promotion and educational attainment of individuals in every society in the world.
Reading habit is an essential and important aspect for creating the literate society in this world. It is better to inculcate reading habit, right from tender age. It shapes the personality of an individual and it helps them to develop the proper thinking methods and creating new ideas.
A teacher Asifa Irfan said, “Creating a reading culture in a school is essential if you want to encourage students to become engaged and motivated readers. However, developing a reading culture takes time and requires the commitment of the principal and staff.”
“There is need to set up book clubs, reading groups, literature circles. Many students need to interact with each other around texts. It greatly enhances their comprehension and makes it so much more enjoyable”, she added.
