PoliticsDialogue only way to resolve political issues: Fazl

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Chairman Kashmir Committee and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday said dialogue was the only way to resolve political issues.

“We should learn a lesson from the hard days of past and resolve our political issues through dialogue,” he said speaking in a PTV programme.

Answering a question whether the political system will continue to thrive, he said, “I hope so except any upheaval because upheavals often threaten the democratic system.”

He called upon political leadership to show maturity and if at all they desired to protest, it should be peaceful and positive.

On Panama Papers, he said those demanding to include the name of the Prime Minister also owned offshore companies. If the political leadership could resolve the issue through dialogue, then it was good. Otherwise they should leave it to courts to decide.

“Taking to roads will worsen the situation,” he advised and said by the time there was no proposal for his mediatory role on the Panama Papers issue.

Answering a question as to when the confusing situation will end, he said, “We often came across confusing situations and survived. This time also we will sail through confusions to the next general elections.”
