ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Managing Director, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Rawalpindi, Raja Shaukat Mehmood Monday said that all possible measures had been taken to meet with any emergency ahead of premonsoon rains in Rawalpindi.

Talking to a private news channel, he said WASA had chalked out a comprehensive plan to meet with any situation as a result of heavy monsoon rains in the city in coming days.

He assures full cooperation and assistance to the citizens of Rawalpindi in saving their precious lives and material losses in any challenging situation.

He said as a precautionary measure holidays had been canceled of the WASA staff so that they be prepared for meeting with any emergency.

Talking about his plan of action, he said for our convenience we had divided Rawalpindi into four divisions; 1 rescue teams will be at high alert to meet any emergency situation; 2) dewatering set of machinery has been increased from 7 to 28 in numbers; 3) addition of new tractors is also being sought; and  4) sewerage system is also being improved,

He said the WASA had imposed a state of emergency in Rawalpindi ahead of imminent danger and an emergency helpline had also been introduced for the convenience of the citizens there.
