Huawei Honor 5X Review – Value for Money

BlogsHuawei Honor 5X Review - Value for Money

Alright, today we will review the Huawei Honor 5x. Right off the bat, the first thing you will notice about the phone is a sleek thin look that is complimented pretty nicely with the use of a metallic body. Nothing really jumps out as odd or out of place in the design as the company has opted for a simplistic, “futuristic” design (show off the phone by rotating it around).

The phone itself weighs around about the same as any other Android phone you may find in the market.

Gameplay and Antutu Test

As you can see there isn’t a hardware button on front of the mobile like the one you find on Samsung or iPhone. The phone has a 5.5 inch full HD screen that has the front facing camera on top next to the sensor and the speaker. The microphone, USB slot and loud speakers can be found at the bottom of the device, which is quite good for anyone who loves to listen to music without using headphones as it allows you to place the phone on a stable surface without worrying about reduction in sound quality. The volume and standard buttons can be found on the side (show off the buttons and press them once) along with the SIM and MicroSD card slot. Let’s turn the phone (turn it on).

While the phone is turning on, let’s have a look at the rear of the device. On the back, you have the phone’s 13-megapixel camera with a flash and its state of the art fingerprint scanner (unlock the phone by using the fingerprint scanner if it has turned on, otherwise show off how to do it, turn the phone around at this moment). As you can probably guess, the phone has a full HD display and judging from what I can see on the screen, Huawei has done quite a good job of it at that.

Anyhow coming back to the device itself, the qualcomm 605 processor along with the 2gb of ram performs decently well for its price, that being said there are certain times when the phone lags for a split second when it is running more than 3 apps at a time (swipe around the app pages to show off its capabilities). As you can see the phone is currently running Android Lollipop has been modified by Huawei to a simplistic UI design. There has been news of the device being upgraded to the latest OS Marshmallow from Huawei, so we can expect some better results from its processing in the future.

Now the phone’s camera manages to deliver a decent result for its price and I have included a link to some of its results below so I won’t really focus much on that. The default camera app also has some neat little features that you should consider trying.

In the brief review, the Honor 5x relatively seems like quite a decent device for its price range. That being said, the lack of a removable battery and NFC might bother some people but personally, I don’t mind losing either of the two for this price and a fully functional fingerprint scanner.
