Every year, in the month of March the festival of lights makes an appearance in Lahore. Known traditionally as MelaChiraghan, it is held in the urs of Madhu Lal Hussain- a Punjabi Sufi poet.
This year, once again the festival kicked off on the 26th March, with the inauguration done by the Punjabi Auqaf department after laying a floral wreath at the shrine. The people started off the festival by lighting up the fire by putting in ghee, oil, candles and wax in order to make the flames stronger.
It is one of the largest gatherings where thousands from all over Pakistan come and pray for their wishes to come true.
The festival divided into three days. The third day is only for females to come and pray at the shrine.
