National AssemblyImran calls for immediate finalization of TORs to probe Panama Leaks

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Wednesday said that parliamentary committee should be constituted immediately for finalizing Terms of References (TROs) to investigate Panama leaks.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Imran Khan said that Panama leaks had provided good opportunity to change the fate of the country by investigating it properly.

He said that across the board accountability would not only strengthen democracy but also put the country on the path of progress and prosperity.

He said that Panama Leaks had provided an opportunity to start healthy debate on accountability process.

Imran Khan warned that if Panama papers issue was not taken seriously then his party would have left no option but to come on roads.

Giving clarification about his flat in London, Imran Khan said that he purchased this flat through his own-shore company Niazi Services Limited in 1983 and brought back all money earned abroad through playing county cricket in United Kingdom after selling the sole abroad property in 2003.

He said the purpose of purchasing the flat through off-shore company was to save inheritance tax as he was not a UK national. He said he did not hide his flat and displayed property documents at several press conference.

He presented himself for accountability under the same TORs presented by the combined opposition.

Imran Khan said that criticism was the democratic right of the opposition and government’s responsibility was to maintain rule of law in the country.

Imran said that instead of leveling counter allegations and indulge in blame-game, the government should take action against corrupts.

Imran Khan also criticized the minister and MNAs for targeting charity organization, Shoukat Khanam Cancer Hospital for political gains in the wake of Panama leaks.

He said that government’s responsibility was to take action and not to level counter allegations.
