PoliticsJUI-F to defend democracy, opposition must not cross limits: Fazlur Rehman

DI KHAN, Pakistan: The Jamiat-ul-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman here Tuesday said that his party will defend democracy and will extend full support to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Government for the cause of national development and resolution of problems faced by the country.

Addressing a big public gathering of PML-N and JUI-F workers on occasion of the ground-breaking ceremony of DI Khan-Halka Motorway performed by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his visit to DI Khan at Yarik area on Tuesday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said difference of opinion was the right of opposition but it should be within the democratic norms.

“Unjustified criticism may strengthen hands of those elements who are trying to derail democratic system for achievement of their ulterior motives,” he said, adding JUIF would strongly resist such elements and will not allow them to derail existing political system established after enormous sacrifices by the political leadership of the country.

He advised the opposition to avoid unjustified criticism and not cross their limits, saying the time demands of showing extreme political maturity and wisdom to take the country out of existing challenges and put it on road to progress and development.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said a handful of elements were trying to enter the power corridors through backdoors and conquer the politics through agitation but such elements would not success in their anti-democratic designs.

“Such agitated elements did not even know about use of political dialogue and selection of words,” he said.

Maulana Fazl reaffirmed that his party will support PML-N government for the cause of national development and resolution of country’s problems.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman paid rich tributes to the bold stance adopted by the Prime Minister on the issue of Panama leaks, saying the prime minister has made politics of opponents issue less after his government wrote a letter to Chief Justice to investigate the issue.

It was the first time in the history of the KP that PCS officers boycotted to perform government functions as a mark of protest against PTI Govt for not solving their problems, he added. “When a Government can’t address problems of their employees and officers how it would bring positive change in the province and make new KPK,” he remarked.
