ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistani and Chinese military leadership on Monday discussed measures to further improve military to military bilateral cooperation and security of the multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In a meeting held in Beijing on Monday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel and his Chinese Counterpart General Li Zoucheng discussed a wide range of issues, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The two leaders held a detailed discussion regarding measures to further improve military to military cooperation, exponentially enhanced training exchanges and defence technology & intelligence sharing.

The army chiefs also discussed the security of the CPEC, a 3,000-kilometer network of roads, railways and pipelines to transport oil and gas from Pakistan’s southern Gwadar Port to Kashgar City, China’s northwestern Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Earlier upon his arrival at the China’s army headquarters, the COAS was presented a guard of honour. He congratulated the Chinese Army Chief on assumption of Command of the newly established army headquarters.

General Raheel Sharif reached Beijing on Monday for a two-day official visit to meet senior political and military leadership of China.
