Senate of PakistanPakistan to raise Bangladesh executions in UNHRC: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz Friday said Pakistan would raise persistent executions of aged leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami with United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and other countries.

Responding to an adjournment motion moved by Senator Sirajul Haq and Nehal Hashmi against the hangings of aged leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, he said Pakistan wanted cordial relations with Bangladesh but the policies of incumbent government were hurdle in this regard.

He hoped that Bangladesh would reconsider its flawed policies as their voices were being raised against Bangladesh by international community and especially in Islamic world.

The hangings of aged leaders in Bangladesh were sheer violations of agreement between Pakistan, India and Bangladesh in 1974, he added.

He said that Pakistan had lodged strong protest against the hangings of Jamaat-e-Islami leader of Bangladesh Mati-ur-Rehman Nizami.

The copy of the resolutions of National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies were also handed over to the ambassador of Bangladesh last.

He urged international community to take notice of severe HR violations being committed by Bangladesh.

He said Islamic world and international community were also raising voices against injustices being committed in Bangladesh.

United Nations Secretary General (UNSG) has also vehemently condemned the hangings of aged leaders by the current Bangladesh government.

Earlier, speaking on adjournment motion, Senator Nehal Hashmi strongly condemned the hanging of Mati-ur-Rehman Nizami by Bangladesh.

Nizami fought the war of Pakistan. Such worker should be paid tributes.

Mushahidullah said a vast majority of Bangladesh people loved Pakistan.

Bangladesh’s courts are punishing pro Pakistan aged over 70 to 80 years old politicians.

Leader of the House, Raja Zafarul Haq said that the Muslim countries should get together and prepare a plan to get the executions of political opponents in Bangladesh stopped.

Chaudhry Tanvir Khan, M Hamza, Lt General (retd) Abdul Qayyum also spoke on the occasion and condemned.
