ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Spanish Ambassador to Pakistan Carlos Morales has said that the European Union has become the third largest market of Pakistani commodities in the World.

While giving a in a lecture organized by Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Thursday, the envoy said that the EU and Pakistan enjoys strong and established diplomatic, economic and trade relations.

The envoy said that the European Union has strong trade and economic ties as EU receives 28 percent of export of Pakistani commodities and particularly Spain is on seventh in the world in terms of Pakistan’s export. He was of the view that in recent years, the volume of Pakistan’s export in European markets has been increased.

Carlos said that European Universities offer more than 100 educational scholarships to Pakistani students every year.

The Spanish ambassador said that more than 100,000 Pakistanis are contributing with their dedicated services in main stream of various countries of European Union.

The envoy also mentioned the detail of the educational, welfare, rural development and poverty alleviation projects of European Union which are continuing in Pakistan.

Moreover, the envoy shed light on evolution and development of different phases from establishment to present of the European Union.

Carlos said that European Union is known as the first human welfare aid organization in the world and the EU providing support and cooperating for peace, stability and prosperity to under develop countries around the world.

Carlos Morales said that the European Union creates 2.8 million new jobs each year.

On this occasion, Rector of the IIUI Dr Masoom Yasinzai thanked the Spanish envoy and briefed him about the University in detail. He said that IIUI producing graduates integrated with teachings of Islam.

“Our graduates are ambassadors of peace, moderation and co-existence serving across the world,” Rector IIUI said.

Dr Masoom Yasinzai also presented university crest to Spanish ambassador Carlos Morles.
