Government of PakistanOpposition, not concerned about corruption: Ahsan Iqbal

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal Thursday rejected the Terms of Reference (ToR)s of Opposition parties about Panama Leaks issue and said that the ToRs was not against the corruption.

Talking to media at Islamia College University in Peshawar, he said it has become crystal clear from the ToRs of the Opposition that these parties were not concerned about the corruption.

He said the opposition wanted to get political mileage out of the so-called ToRs, adding that since the name of Prime Minister was mentioned in list of Panama leaks then how he could be linked with the issue.

He said the Prime Minister was focusing across the board development in the country and announcement of international airport in Bannu and Lakki Marwat University by the PM was reflection of his commitment.

The Minister said the common man was not concerned with the Panama Papers rather he wanted solution of their basic problems.

The federal government has multiplied the higher educational budget from Rs 48 billion to record increase of Rs 78 billion, he said and added that three new universities would be set up each in FATA, Zoab and Gawadar.

Earlier, he visited various historic places of the Islamia College University that was built as college back in 1913 by Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan and took keen interest in its architectural designs of the building and appreciated the role played by its students during Pakistan Movement and later in the development of the country.
