ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain expressing dissatisfaction at the prevailing volume of pharmaceutical exports on Friday sought recommendations to boost it.
The President asked the Ministry of National Health Services and Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (PPMA) to immediately submit cogent recommendations to boost pharmaceutical exports to realize its full potential.
The President said this while chairing a presentation by the representatives of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The presentation was also attended by Secretary, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and Secretary, Ministry of Commerce.
The President underscored the need for early operationalisation of Federal Drug Surveillance Laboratory in Islamabad.
He said it would also fulfill the World Health Organization’s requirements and provide necessary certification to facilitate pharmaceutical exports to the international market.
President Mamnoon directed the Secretary Health to ensure early functioning of this Laboratory.
The President said that PPMA needs to work harder to increase pharmaceutical exports by removing the impediments and ensuring high standards of quality control to attract foreign buyers assuring them of all necessary help by the government.
The representatives of PPMA briefed the President about the issues pertaining to pharmaceutical industry and thanked him for his keen interest in promoting pharmaceutical exports.
