ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the political opponents want to derail the country from the path of progress and prosperity only for their own vested interests.

In two separate meetings with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers in the National Assembly Azhar Qayyum Nahra and Rana Muhammad Hayyat Khan in Islamabad on Thursday, Sharif advised the legislators to focus on the development and welfare issues of their people without getting distracted by the opponents.

The prime minister said that the present government and its team are working for the betterment and uplift of the masses, and enabling the people to exercise their fullest potential for progress and prosperity of the country.

Nawaz Sharif said that the government is committed to improve the living standards of the people of Pakistan.

“We are proactively pursuing our development and reform agenda and all our energies are focused at improvement in the standard of living of common man,” he said.

Both the MNAs apprised the prime minister about the ongoing development work, welfare schemes and political issues in their respective constituencies.

The MNAs appreciated the leadership of the prime minister for putting the country on the path of development. They said that the improved security and initiation of massive infrastructure development projects across the country are unique achievements of the government.
