ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday said corruption was eroding the foundation of the country and urged the civil servants to ensure corruption-free governance.

He was talking to a group of civil servants, recently promoted to Grade-22, who called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The President asked the civil servants to expeditiously redress the problems of the people and efficiently perform their responsibilities by staying within the ambit of constitution and the law.

The President stressed that the officers must take all decisions in the best interest of the State and the nation as guided by the founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

“Your top positions in the civil service require you to uphold the highest standards of justice and transparency,” the President said.

The President said that the officers should perform their professional duties with maximum commitment and dedication.

The President felicitated the civil officers on their promotion to grade-22 and also hosted a luncheon in their honour.

Moscow says it won’t allow US to silence UNSC on Israeli violence against Palestinians Monitoring Desk: Russian envoy in United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that the UN Security Council should bring peace, stability and prosperity to the Middle East and Russia would not allow United States to silence UNSC over the issue of Gaza crisis. According to TASS news Agency, Nebenzya said that Moscow will continue to call for an end to violence against Palestinians and will not allow the US to muzzle the UN Security Council as Washington seeks to support Israel's operation in Gaza. "We will continue to stand firmly for ending violence against the Palestinians. Without a shadow of a doubt, we will continue to expose the abuses and sanctimony with which the US is handling the situation. We will not allow the Americans to gag the entire council with their hands in an effort to encourage further continuation of Israel's ruthless operation," he said in a speech at the Security Council.
