ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan and Belarus would have cooperation in education sector especially in scientific and cultural cooperation based on the principles of equity, mutual benefits and respect. 

Both the countries have earlier signed an agreement of mutual cooperation on May 29, 2015 in this regard.

This was conveyed by State Minister for Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman during his meeting with Belarusian delegation led by First deputy of the ministry of education Belarus Mr. Vadim Bogush here on Wednesday.

The minister directed the Federal secretary Education, Humanyun Khan to form a committee including members of HEC, NAVTTC, Ministry of Education Pakistan and Ministry of Education Belarus to have close collaboration with each other.

He also directed Higher Education Commission to prioritize the visits of Belarusian Faculty and students to learn from each other in a better way.

“It is very important to have a direct contact of institutes in both the countries along with the student exchange programs to learn about each other’s education system, therefore we would like this program to be started as soon as possible,” said the Minister.

Moreover both the sides talked about the collaboration in the fields ICT, technical and vocational skills, sports, water management and environment, forestry, and mobile technology etc.

The minister apprised the delegation of science and technology universities in Pakistan and said there are 14,000 PhDs in Pakistan currently working in different fields with increasing number of research and annual publications every year.

He informed them about the projects of establishment of Skills University and Sports University here and sought their support.

Joint research, attending the issues of recognition of degree or diplomas in both countries, admissions and scholarships for students in both countries were also discussed in the meeting.

Both sides decided to establish Chair of Pakistan (in Urdu) in the Minsk State Linguistic University Belarus and a chair of Belarus in NUML Pakistan (in Belarus).

Mr. Vadim Bogush said that they would very much like to have joint projects with the Pakistani Universities especially in ICT.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary Federal Education Humanyun Khan, Additional Secretary Dr. Allah Bakhsh Malik, Joint Education Advisor Rafiq Tahir, Director General Education Talat Anjum, Deputy Secretary Education Rahim Daad Dehri, First Deputy of the Ministry of Education Belarus Mr. Vadim Bogush, Rector of the Belarusian State Technology University Mr. Ihar Voitau and Rector of the Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University Mr. Kanstantsin Bandarewnka.

The others were first Vice Rector of the Belarusian state University Mr. Aleh Ivashkevich, First Vice Rector of the Belarusian State University of Information and Radio Electronics Mr. Anatoly, Vice Rector Belarusian State Technology University Mr. Aliaksandr, Vice Rector Grodno State University Mr. Yuri, Chairman Minsk State Linguistic University Mr. Siarhei, and Vice Rector Belarusian State university of Physical Training Mr. Valdimir.
