ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday appointed Tariq Masood Yasin as new Inspector General of Islamabad Police, according to a statement issued by the PM Office.

The appointment has been made a few days before the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plans to hold a massive public gathering in Fatima Jinnah Park of Islamabad on April 24 to mark its 20th Foundation Day. However, the federal government doesn’t seem in any mood to allow the PTI to conduct its Jalsa in the Federal Capital.

On Monday addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that no public meeting would be allowed at D-Chowk or F-9 Park of Federal Capital as such activities infringe upon fundamental rights of people besides inflicting harm on economy.

The interior minister said that PTI would not be allowed to hold its Jalsa in Islamabad and added that writ of state must be established. But in contrary, the PTI Chairman Khan didn’t pay any heed to minister’s statement and remained firm to move ahead as his party’s earlier plan.

PTI writes Islamabad administration for security on April 24

Meanwhile, the PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan has written a letter to the Islamabad administration and informed it about holding of Jalsa on April 24 at the Fatima Jinnah Park, Islamabad.

In the letter, the Islamabad administration was asked to arrange all necessary security and other arrangements in this regard as all PTI leadership including Chairman Imran Khan would attend the public gathering.
