BEIJING, China: The Punjab government will welcome Chinese businessmen, firms and joint ventures to invest in a multi-million dollar project to provide clean drinking water facilities to the people of rural and peri-urban areas of the province, reports Chinese official media Saturday.

The Provincial Minister for Public Health, Housing and Urban Development Tanveer Aslam Malik offered invitations to Chinese investors during a Seminar held at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing on Friday, reports  China official news portal China.org.cn.

The minister led a delegation from Punjab province to showcase the project in China and to invite prospective investors.

The Punjab government will fully fund the project, and intends to engage well-reputed international companies for designing, procurement, installation, operation and maintenance of safe drinking water supply solutions all over the province, the minister said.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid said that the Punjab government had started a massive programme of socio economic development uplift of the people and the safe drinking water project was one of the priority projects. He hoped that the Chinese companies would avail the opportunities offered by the Punjab.

Around 25 companies participated in the seminar. The three-day road show travelled to the Chinese cities of Shanghai and Beijing concluded with the seminar here Friday.
