ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A total amount of Rs 198.930 billion had been disbursed under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) during last two and half years.

According to an official document, 5,056,042 beneficiaries were registered till 31 December, 2015. However, the number has been increased to 5,216,017 as on 31st January, 2016.

A amount Rs 45,401,897,700 was disbursed during fiscal year 2015-16.

Talking to the state-run news agency on Thursday, he said present government had taken various anti-fraud measures to stop collection of money through illegal means and frauds.

He said that people were being educated through SMS campaign to stop incidents of fraud.

He said that soon survey would be conducted across the country to remove anomalies in order to ensure deserving people become beneficiaries of BISP.

He said that law enforcement agencies were also taking action against fraudulents, who cheated BISP beneficiaries.
