NationalSindh Governor announces to launch three rescue projects

KARACHI, Pakistan: Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has announced to launch three important rescue projects — Rescue 1122, Lost Persons Helpline and First Aid Training to children –to ensure better rescue and relief in case of any disaster, eventuality or terrorists attack.

This he announced while addressing the launching ceremony of School Safety Program (SSP) initiated by Pakistan Red Crescent Sindh here at Governor House.

A Governor House statement said that Provincial Minister for Education, Nisar Ahmed Khoro, DG Rangers Maj. General Bilal Akbar, Secretary General Pakistan Red Cross Dr. Rizwan Naseer, Chairperson of Hilal-e-Ahmer Sindh Ms. Farzanah Naek and Secretary Waseem were also present on the occasion.

The Governor said that these projects would be very helpful in rescue efforts in case of any act of terrorism and would further strengthen and consolidate the rescue efforts.

He said that the security of educational institutions is the need of the hour so as to ensure safety of students and teachers.

The Governor Sindh said that terrorist sometime attack educational institutions considering these a soft target.

Despite these cruel and cowardly attacks, the students from all over country expressed immense courage and solidarity to defeat the nefarious designs of terrorists and they proved that terrorists would not win at any cost, he added.

Dr. Ebad said that due to Zarb-e-Azb, the terrorists have no place to hide and our armed forces have forced them to run.

The Karachi operation has also eliminated terrorists, target killers, extortionists and kidnappers from the city and it is once again becoming city of lights and returning to its past glory, he added.

The Governor lauded the school safety programne being launched by Pakistan Hilal-e-Ahmer Sindh and praised the contributions of Norwegian Red Cross in this regard.

He said that philanthropists should also extend all possible help and assistance to make this programme a success and expand the same to colleges and universities.

The Governor also commended the schools participating in this programme and hoped that its scope would further be enhanced to other schools.

Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khoro said that steps are being taken to beef up security and safety of Government Schools.

He asked for help of Red Cross for preparing charts of requirements of Schools with regards to fool proof security.

Secretary General Pakistan Hilal-e-Ahmer Dr. Rizwan Naseer highlighted various programmes being initiated by PRC.

He assured that it would launch various programmes in Sindh also.

Chairperson Sindh Hilal-e-Ahmer Ms. Farzanah Naek informed that under this programme 200 Schools would be trained in School Safety measures.

Vice President Sindh Hilal-e-Ahmer Sardar Yasin Malik thanked the Governor Sindh for his continuous support for Sindh Hilal-e-Ahmer.
