PakistanPervez Musharraf’s name placed on ECL

ISLAMABAD: Almost a week after former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf returned to Pakistan ending his self-imposed four-year exile and defying death threats, his name has been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) for his involvement in several cases, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Saturday.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration has been sent a notification by the Interior Ministry in this regard.

The former military dictator, who also leads the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), was barred from leaving the country by the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday without seeking prior permission of the concerned courts.

The court also extended his protective bail for 15 days in three high-profile cases of Benazir Bhutto assassination, Nawab Akbar Bugti murder and illegal confinement of 62 judges in which he was facing arrest warrants.

Musharraf, who arrived in Karachi on March 24 after four years in self-exile to contest the upcoming general elections, has filed his nomination papers for the National Assembly from three constituencies – NA-250 (Karachi), NA-32 (Chitral) and NA-48 (Islamabad).
