KOLKATA, India: Sri Lanka will take on Afghanistan in a group 1 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.
The match is scheduled to commence at 07:00 pm according to Pakistan Standard Time (PST).
Afghanistan reached the Super 10 round after beating Scotland, Hong Kong and Zimbabwe in the qualifying round.
It will be the first that Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will play a T20 International against each other.
Though Sri Lanka is a much better side and holds a better position in the ICC T20 rankings; however, its recent form has not been good. Sri Lanka managed to win just two games of its last 10 T20 Internationals. On the other hand, Afghanistan clinched victories in 9 of its last 10 20-over matches.

Earlier on Wednesday, two matches were played as part of the ICC World T20. In the first match, Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 55 runs in Kolkata while in the second T20, West Indies beat England by 6 wickets in Mumbai.
