ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Yousaf Wednesday assured the religious parties that government would not introduce any legislation contradicting the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

Talking to newsmen outside the Parliament House here, the minister said after reservation of religious parties, the chief minister Punjab had constituted a committee to view these and present recommendations in this regard.

All political parties, he said, have representation in National Assembly and the country’s system was being run under Constitution of 1973 and no legislation would be introduced in contradiction of Quran, Sunnah and Constitution, he assured.

Sardar Yousaf said the religious parties should satisfy on the government’s move to remove their reservations regarding the amendment in Punjab Women Protection Bill.

To a query, he condemned the Peshawar bus blast, saying that the terrorism would be rooted out soon due to sincere efforts of the government in this regard.
