ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastgir has said that many mafias are active in Karachi including land, water and corruption which are needed to be rooted out.

Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), Dastgir however said that the law & order situation in Karachi is improving day by day as a result of the operation.

Dastgir said that the on-going Karachi operation is yielding fruitful results as criminals are being eliminated from the mega city. He said that the operation in Karachi was launched after consultation with all stakeholders and it will continue till its objectives are achieved.

In reply to a question, the minister said that allegations levelled against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain are of serious nature and investigations should be carried out in this regard.
