ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD), Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that zero tolerance policy will be adopted against polio in the whole country, especially in Islamabad.

He stated this while chairing a meeting of Islamabad Task Force for Polio Eradication in Islamabad on Monday.

Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Eradication Senator Aysha Raza, Chief Commissioner Islamabad while Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) officials were also present in the meeting.

Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has warned that if any case of polio is detected in Islamabad, strict action would be taken against the relevant departments.

He directed to depute most efficient and capable teams in high risk areas. He also directed that during Polio Campaigns coordination meeting of all relevant departments should be held on daily basis to review the progress on the campaign.

The Minister of State was briefed during the meeting that not a single case of polio virus was detected in Islamabad Capital Territory since 2008.

Senator Ayesha Reza thanked the minister for taking special interest in polio eradication campaign and said his leadership role has provided a fresh impetus to the move for eradication of polio from Islamabad.
