NationalERRA completes 10,002 projects in Azad Kashmir, KPK

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Earthquake Reconstruction, Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) has completed 10,002 projects in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), worth billions of rupees to help improve quality of life.

In a monthly review meeting, different projects were discussed in detail. The meeting was presided over by ERRA, Acting Deputy Chairman Brig. Abu Bakr Amin Bajwa and reviewed progress of completed and under construction projects.

Deputy Chairman congratulated ERRA staff and also those who worked devotedly in the past with collective efforts which made possible to complete over ten thousands projects. He expressed his commitment to complete task assigned by the Government of Pakistan and the confidence shown by international community.

Director General (DG) State Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority AJK (SERRA), DG Pakhtunkhwa Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority (PERRA), Projects Directors, ERRA officials and NESPAK representatives also attended the meeting.

Acting Deputy Chairman said that despite facing funds problems we are committed to complete ongoing projects especially educational institutes.

“It is unfortunate that Balakot site has not been handed over to ERRA and we stand by the people of old Balakot to develop safe housing projects with all civic amenities,” he said.

He directed all the heads of the project to complete ongoing projects and remove impediments in this regard. He also appreciated all the concerned staff that played role in the completion of these projects.

The meeting was apprised about overall completed projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and AJK.

DG PERRA Syed Hidayat Jan told the meeting that in KP earthquake affected areas, out of total 6,886 different sectors projects, ERRA had completed 4,873 which are now functional.

Giving details, he said that in Abbottabad 930, in Battagram 1035, in Kohistan 273, Mansehra 2045, and in Shangla district 590 projects have been completed and handed over to the relevant departments.

Director General State Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (SERRA) Muhammad Zafar Khan said that in AJK, a total 5,129 projects have been completed including 1,251 projects in Bagh, 2,864 in Muzaffarbad, 223 in Neelum 770 Poonch and 21 in Sudhnoti.

Giving details of sector-wise completed project, the meeting was told that in education sector 2,928 projects completed while in the environment sector total 253, governance, 509, health 198, livelihood 1,372, transport 177, water and sanitation 4,544 while in other areas, total 21 projects were completed.

Acting Director General ERRA donor and sponsor Muhammad Imtiaz apprised the meeting that from Kuwait fund 26 ongoing educational projects were completed in Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa costing Rs.2.3587 billion.

He said that 11 educational facilities completed in Muzaffarabad, 13 schools in different categories, four schools in district Bagh while two in Neelum valley and handed over to the concerned authorities.

He said that from Saudi Fund for Development, 16 projects were completed with cost of Rs.960 million including 11 educational and health projects in Mansehra, three in Abbottabad and two in Shangla.

He said that from Islamic Development Bank, Rs. 622 million was spent on 11 projects including basic health units, schools and roads.

Giving details of projects, Pakhtunkhwa Earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority (PERRA) Director General Syed Hidayat Jan said that out of 6,887 projects, so far 4,741 projects have been completed.

Director General State Earthquake Reconstruction Rehabilitation Authority (SERRA) Muhammad Zafar Khan said that in AJK, out of 7,626 projects, 5129 projects have been completed.
